0 Dirty Bourbon debuts at ISIS!

I’m trying to count up how many times we’ve performed in Asheville, that’s including busking as well, and we just can’t be sure anymore. We’ve been back so many times it feels like a home away from home. We’ve had the opportunity to play around the city at different bars, clubs, corners, and brew halls, and tonight we’re adding a new spot to the list.

Tonight we’re shaking the walls at Isis Restaurant and Music Hall. We’re joined by locals Raising Caine and it all kicks off at 9 PM! But make your way down before then because doors open at 5 and there’s plenty of good food.

We’re excited to make our debut in such a beautiful place and hope you can join us!

We are also incredibly thrilled to officially announce that our total amount raised for our Kickstarter project is exactly $10,600. To everyone who shared, supported and donated, we did it, folks! But really you did it, and in return we, along with Craig and everyone at The Living Room, will sweat and bleed to give you the best record we can. You have opened a huge door for us, and we’re gonna be charging through with guns blazing!

Thank you!
Boots.

Today is the final day folks. Less than 18 hrs to go on our Kickstarter campaign. Now – more than any other time – is the time for you to step up and become a part of this awesome project! We’ve poured so much love into writing, drafting and demoing these songs, selecting the perfect producer and professional studio, putting all our cards on the line for this new album – join us! Let’s do it together! Whether it’s $500 or just $5, do what you can, and together let’s make the dopest album ever – let’s break DBRS into the mainstream – and without the help of nefarious record companies and industry hacks telling us what to do. Let’s do it ourselves.

0 Looking For That Special Someone…

tape-recording-1954Ladies and gentlemen, we’re looking for that special someone. We want to record this next album to tape and release a vinyl version of it as well. But to do that we need to get this Kickstarter to $12,000. We’re currently at $10,360 with less than 36 hours to go. That means we have only a day and a half to raise $1,640, or we won’t be able to do tape. We simply won’t be able to afford it. We’re already facing a $20,000 budget, all things considered. But, if we can get up to $12,000, then we’ll be able to give this next album that warm analog justice it deserves. You like warm analog justice, right?

$500 copyHave you considered our $500 donation package? For a mere five Benjamins you can get backstage access to a DBRS concert (+meet & greet & photo session w/ band), an autographed copy of the new album, a DBRS t-shirt, 5 DBRS stickers, and an autographed set-list. That’s a pretty good deal, right?

Picture 12Oh, and as a last minute bonus, if you pledge that package today, tomorrow we’ll mail you a copy of our 8th studio album Accordion Anthology on 180gram vinyl with a hand written letter (both the vinyl & the letter hand-signed as well) & an email with a download of a demo version of one of the new new songs from our soon-to-be-recorded 9th studio album Important Things Humans Should Know.

Now that’s a pretty sweet deal. 2/3 of these $500 reward packages (and all 3 of the $1,000 packages) have been claimed, so there’s only 1 left…

Don’t have $500? Neither do we… Got $5? Make a pledge. And check our Kickstarter history – we’ve pledged to many music projects ourselves in the past. And so, we beckon to you now:

O brother, O sister, where y’at?

0 We Did It!!! But We’re Not Done Yet…

Picture 6

We dit it!!!! We’ve hit our $10,000 goal with 64 hours to go! But we’re not done yet ladies and gentlemen! Our budget has become clearer now that we’ve signed on a producer (Craig Schumacher) and scheduled professional studio time (Living Room Studio, New Orleans, LA) and all things considered, this project is going to cost us about $20,000 start to finish. We’re fully prepared to put in whatever we have to ourselves (we don’t have much) but we’d like to see if we could raise just a little more here on Kickstarter in these final few hours…

And so, if we can hit $12,000 here on Kickstarter before early Friday morning, then we’ll pledge to you to record this album on tape and do a vinyl release of it as well. Meeting with Craig and reviewing the equipment at The Living Room, he’s really excited to do some bussing to tape and treat it like a record, but tape & vinyl costs mucho money, and we just can’t do it in our current state…

But – if we can hit $12,000 here – then we can – and we will! So, it’s up to you folks… wanna see a vinyl version of this new album? Then let’s push just a little further… only $2,000 more to go – let’s do it!!!!

Oh, and we’ve reduced the $5,000 package to just 2 grand. For 2 grand you could have the Dirty Bourbon River Show perform in your house. Or your bar. Or your son’s bar mitzvah. Think about it.

Check out the updated project here:

And again, thank y’all so so so much. So excited to make this new album!!!

WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE OUR NEXT ALBUM WILL BE PRODUCED BY NO OTHER THAN THE AMAZING…

CRAIG SCHUMACHER

SCHUMACHER

Craig is a wonderfully talented mixer, producer, engineer, and musician with over 20 years of experience in the industry.  He is going to be coming to our home of New Orleans to incorporate his vast expertise from Wave Lab into our next studio album, and boy are we excited! This is what most of those dollars you all have donated to our Kickstarter are going towards, and we want you to know what a sound investment (pun intended) he is going to be in the making of our next album.  If you doubt his skills, you can check out his full discography here, and a few of our personal favorite projects of his are listed below.

 100_Lovers_(DeVotchKa_album_-_cover_art)

DEVOTCHKA – 100 LOVERS – 2011

Craig has worked with DeVotchKa not only on this album, but A Mad and Faithful Telling (2008), How It Ends (2004), and Una Volta (2003). We recommend that you listen to all those albums, but you can listen to 100 Lovers here.

 Algiers_(album)

CALEXICO – ALGIERS – 2012

Other Calexico projects that Craig has worked on include Carried to Dust (2008), Garden Ruin (2006), Convict Pool (2004), Feast of Wire (2003), Even My Sure Things Fall Through (2001) and more. Listen to Para from Algiers here.

 I'm_Not_There_Soundtrack_Cover

I’M NOT THERE [Original Soundtrack] – 2007

This wonderful movie biopic of music icon Bob Dylan features various artists paying homage to a man who changed the face and sound of the music industry forever. Listen to Iron and Wine with Calexico covering Dark Eyes here.

 AMOS LEE MISSION BELL

AMOS LEE – MISSION BELL – 2011

It seems that once an artist works with Craig, they want to over and over again. As The Crow Flies (2012) was round 2 for Amos Lee after Mission Bell, his first collaboration with Craig. You can listen to Violin off of Mission Bell here.

 WorseThingsGet

NEKO CASE – THE WORSE THINGS GET, THE HARDER I FIGHT, THE HARDER I FIGHT, THE MORE I LOVE YOU – 2013

Craig has also produced Middle Cyclone (2009), Fox Confessor Brings The Flood (2006), and Blacklisted (2002).  You can listen to Night Still Comes here.

WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP THOUGH!

Exciting stuff! As you can see, we’ll be making the absolute most of your contributions, but this is only the beginning. By the time we get everything recorded, mixed, mastered, designed, produced, distributed, marketed, and into your hungry ears, we’ll be scraping the bottom of our coffers! We’re now just over $1,000 away from hitting the goal of our Kickstarter project, but the more we invest, the better this album can be.  We can fly or we can soar, and that’s entirely up to you. There are only three (3) days left before our deadline, and we’re confident that we can hit that mark and go beyond! We thank each and every one of our donors from the botttom of our collective Dirty Bourbon River Show heart, but we’ve got just a little further to go.  Let’s knock this one out in spades!

So please donate today at our Kickstarter!

$500

We’re getting down to serious crunch time here folks… We have less than 76 hours to raise $2,410 dollars for our Kickstarter Campaign, and if we don’t, according to Kickstarter Guidelines, we won’t get any of the money! We’re so close (3/4’s of the way there) but yet so far, and so we need your help now more than ever…

Want to take your commitment to the music of DBRS to the next level? If so, you should explore our $500 donation option – which comes with all sorts of cool rewards – Backstage access to a Dirty Bourbon concert, lots of hand signed swagger, songs before the album even drops, all sorts of amazing stuff. There are only three of these rewards available, and 1 has already been taken.

If you are in such a position, please consider this donation amount. If we can get 2 $500 donors before the end of the night, we’ll be at 85%! As the night ends and we get dangerously close, this would be so so cool…

Watching that ticker tick… Let’s do this good people!!!! Here is the link:

Yes folks it has been done. Thirty-five years and 813 pieces later, Mark Temperato, who goes by the stage name RevM, has built the world’s largest drum kit!

drums1

Some of the parts are as far as seven or eight feet away from each other, but he’s able to hit each piece from his throne, which is impossible to see from the front.

drums2

…I can’t imagine how much money he’s spent….

But…

I can keep track of how much money our Kickstart has raised…and as of now we are still behind schedule…we have 5 days to go folks, and we really need your help! We’ve got a producer and a studio all set…please continue your support and help us make this next album a reality!!

Hartmut Geilert is an utter badass. Simply dissatisfied with “regular” size contrabass tubas, Hartmut decided to craft a sub-contrabass tuba that would satisfy his needs.

Towering at an imposing 8 feet tall, weighing in at over 110 lbs, and consisting of 164 feet of tubing, the Riesentuba is truely a sight to behold.

20140620-145236.jpg
Here is a video of Hartmut’s creation being played by the great Jörg Wachsmuth.

P.S. Gig tonight at the Evening Muse in Charlotte, NC. Show starts at 10:30.

P.P.S. There are only a few days left on our album kickstarter. Please help out and spread the word.
