0 Repair, Recharge, Back on the Road.

Suzy got blown off stage by a strong gust of wind in Crested Butte, CO and she landed on her bell. It really sucked, but it could have been much worse.We had a few days off back home so I got my horn fixed by Stafford Agee, trombonist for Rebirth Brass Band and an excellent human being. I can’t thank him enough for taking time out of his very busy schedule to help make Suzy whole again.

Ladies and gents,

Tonight we return to Lamberts in Austin to round out the June leg of our 2016 Summer Tour! Doors are at 9:30, and 2 solid sets of music with yours truly kick off at 10pm.

Can’t wait to knock out another great show in Austin, then kick back for a few days in the good ol’ Dirty Dirty! See you next month on 7/7 in Chicago at Schuba’s!

What can’t this man do? Master of classical, jazz, rock and roll and everything in between. Composer, performer, teacher of the highest levels, he is known throughout the world of bass as a true badass. He has studied and played with everyone, and I mean everyone. Frank Proto, Jaco Pastorius, Bobby McFerrin, John Paul Jones, Hal Robinson, and too many others to count. I was very lucky to have him as my teacher and I am deeply grateful for all of the knowledge and skills he passed on to me. DERF!

We found a reverb chamber at our hotel pool. After performing at the Donkey Creek Festival, eating rattlesnake, and drinking Bourbon we woke up early and played Wagner’s Lohengrin, Prelude to Act III low brass excerpt. Notice the kids… One little girl tried her best to go home with Jimmy.

0 Crested Butte, CO: Jeeping up the Continental Divide

We had an awesome time in Crested Butte the past day and a half! Played our gig with dogs running in between us on stage, taken care of by Tully’s bar and grill where we jammed late night brass band style, then climbed to the top of the Continental Divide in a Jeep driven by our baddass new friend, Vanessa. 0 Standards in Stange Places pt.2: Denver, Colorado

On our way from Denver to Grand Junction the band decided to stop at an ARC Thrift Store for saucy deals on some used clothes. Outside the store, we made friends with Rico Suave and his friend Frank, two musicians who were practicing for thier upcoming Fourth of July gig. Cool ass dudes. Frank frank played the maracas as well as a wooden castanet clapper on his belly, and Rico held down the guitar (he was actually stationed in Fort Polk years ago). We decided to play Struttin with Some BBQ, one of our favorite Louis Armstrong originals! Enjoy
