Tonight we’ll be celebrating our dear drummer, Dane Bootsy Schindler’s birthday with a grand return to North Carolina! Ellis Dyson & the Shambles will be joining us for a night of revelry and libations at Chapel Hill’s own Local 506!
Doors open up at 8 pm, and the show kicks off at 9. Come celebrate Dane’s birthday the right way!
Now, enjoy some celebratory second line music, Bavarian style, courtesy of our friends, Magnetic Ear!
So I’ve picked up about a dozen records on this tour so far, some in stores and some as gifts (thanks again to Chuck and Marg for the Beatles records!), and they’re all gonna be great to hear once I’m back home.
Here’s some of what I’ve picked up so far….
Mandrill – Mandrill Is – Ape Is High
Elton John – Madman Across the Water
The Beatles – Live at the Hollywood Bowl – Twist and Shout
I also got a hold of two Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass records, two Sly & the Family Stone, The Platters, The Miracles, and more… Looking forward to posting up some photos when I get home.
Come join us tonight in Annapolis, MD as we make our debut at the classy Rams Head On Stage. Show time is 8pm. See y’all there!!
I love vinyl records. I LOVE them. I love how they feel, how they look, and especially how they sound. The past few years I’ve been digging through bins and shelves and am very proud of the collection that grows in my room. So much in fact that I would love to share it you! So with nothing left to say, let’s see what spinning in Bootsy’s Box of Records!
Do you know The Iceman? Have you heard the voice that belongs to Mississippi born Jerry Butler? A key member in The Impressions, Jerry Butler is behind some of the best love songs to come out of the 60s. The Iceman Cometh(’68) is Jerry Butler’s 11th studio album, and it is side-to-side one of my favorite records right now. On top of how great it sounds, the record comes with a fantastic signed photograph of the Iceman.
And yes folks the music sounds as good as he looks. Here’s the song “Never Give You Up” featured on Side 2 on The Ice Man Cometh.
Hope you enjoyed that! Tonight Dirty Bourbon is kicking the second half of our summer tour off in Belmar, New Jersey at Tenth Ave. Burrito! Showtime is 10pm, see y’all there!
If you’ve been sitting around wondering – “Hey, you know I wish those Dirty Bourbs would release some new material already!! It’s not enough they have all that music (on Bandcamp and iTunes)!!”
Well guess what?? We got something for you!!
The good folks over at Daytrotter Studios have posted up our session, as well as a magical illustration of yours truly!!
Now, if you’re digging those 4 new tracks and are curious as to when the next album is coming out, well guess what?? You can decide – sort of!!
As you may know we are in the middle of raising money for our Kickstarter which will go to producing our next album!! We have the music, a great title and a vision for our cover – all we need is more MONEY (and support and love and kind words)!!
So… While you’re listening to our Daytrotter session, make your way over to our Kickstarter page and put some money in the box-ah (for a sweet prize)!!
Hey folks. After a number of successful shows in Colorado we have the next few days off to relax and recharge before heading to Utah. In the meantime, we figured why not keep the entertainment going for y’all, so here’s a video of our recent visit to our family in Berryville, VA.
Turns out the beautiful home we were staying in had a family of bats hanging around. Long story short, one decided to fly into the room I was staying in, scare the crap out of me, and then fly around the room in celebration.
Rock and roll history was made last Wednesday at Broad Street Social Club in New Bern, NC! Hair literally flew at the end of the show as Dane Bootsy Schindler got his ears lowered, live and on stage, in the middle of one of his glorious set-closer solos, followed by another hapless victim from the audience! Only with the Dirty Bourbon River Show, friends…
P.S. Gig tonight at Hannah’s Haus in Beaufort, NC. Show starts at 10.
