When we bought the van in 2012, it had 34 miles on it. Now we’re over 200,000!
We’ve had a lot of new experiences on this tour so far, good ones and bad ones. So as it is good to always be tested, we must now strategize on how to repair our recently disfigured vehicle.
On our drive from Utah to Colorado, feeling high and happy about our first conquest into new territory with new stories about new friends, a deer decided it was time for us to have a nice slice of shit pie…. Our van is beaten and torn, but thanks to skilled driving, a cool head, and one badass piece of man-made machinery there’s still 5 members of the Dirty Bourbon River Show, 15 instruments, and a collective spirit that can’t be broken.
“It is by presence of mind in untried emergencies that the native metal of man is tested.” – J.R. Lowell
So we have much to figure out as we recharge in Durango, CO. Charlie’s 23rd birthday is tomorrow, wish him a happy one folks. Our next show is in Flagstaff, AZ on our nation’s day of Independence. A time of celebration is at hand – we are safe and sound with no plans of slowing down (metaphorically, that is).
After a damn good time in Denver, we continue our journey on to Carbondale!
The show tonight is at the Black Nugget (formerly Carnahan’s) – kicks off at 9pm.
Alas, after much trouble, toil, and turmoil, the Dirty Bourbon River Show has finally come upon new van. There is such a relief in knowing that we can now arrive at our destinations safely, comfortably, and with more efficient gas milage! Here’s a picture of the new beast:
We’d like to thank all the people from all over America that helped us to obtain this new spectacular & magnificent vehicle – Through our fundraising efforts nearly a third of the down payment came from you, the listener, the lover, and supporter of live homemade and hometended music. We’re so close to our van fundraiser goal – just need one more donor to bring us home!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
We in the Dirty Bourbon River Show have been hard at work these past weeks since our last Southeast tour. There has been much writing and learning, much rehearsing and perfecting, we’ve finished recording our 2012 releases and filmed a music video for one of our upcoming singles, and yet there is still so much to do!
After a successful Mardi Gras show in our hometown, the Dirty Dirty, New Orleans herownself, we prepare for a brief return to the midwest next week ->
and then a few shows leading up to the grand release of Volume III and the kick off of our four-month-long national tour!
However, despite all of the wonderful shenanigans we have in store for you, we have a serious matter to tend to:
Friends and family, before we embark on our great quarter-year journey that begins with a trek back to the wonderful, beautiful, and treacherous mountains of Colorado, we must secure a new mode of transportation!
I’m sure all of you at one point or another have seen our hulking, sagging, meandering beast of a van and probably heard her grunts and sighs of protest, too! She’s stood the test of time so far, but her journey is coming quickly to an end. I’ll put it this way: she’s got no A/C or heat, no insulation, completely busted shocks, and an engine held together in some parts with whatever we could find to do the job! For as lovely and enduring as she’s been (and she is a trooper!), it is simply time to upgrade to something that will not ultimately kill us.
SO! If you’ve thought about donating and haven’t gotten around to it, PLEASE DO IT NOW! If you didn’t think we needed the money/a new van that badly, WE DO! If you have anything from a dollar to 20,000 of them lying around, please, PLEASE, help out your brothers and family in music and good times, the Dirty Bourbon River Show, to continue our quest to bring our ever-evolving original music to the world at large, so that we don’t end up like this!

Loved ones, please take a moment to search your hearts and your wallets in this time of the utmost seriousness. We are on the verge of greater things than ever before in this great journey, and we can’t do it without your help! For anything at all, no matter how big or small, that you can donate to our cause, we are eternally and deeply grateful.
We need your help! Many of you are surely aquainted with our van fundraiser by now:

We were running strong at first, but we haven’t received any donations so far this month, and we’re only at $822.31 of you $20,000 goal 😦 At this rate, it’ll take us 1,775 days to complete – that’s nearly 5 years from now!
What we’re looking for is a very special person to donate $177.69 in the next few days, bringing our donation total to $1000 so far (1/20 of our goal). If you would like to be this special person, in addition to all the normal goodies you’d receive for such a donation (unreleased song, Big Charlie baseball card, handpainted kazoo, handmade t-shirt, complete discography, handdrawn Big Charlie dinosaur + video cover of any song you want) we’ll also send you an additional unreleased .mp3 from our new album – Volume III. You will be the very first of the public to hear this song!
now that sounds pretty cool…
So, do you have it in your heart to donate $177.69 to a VERY good cause? You’ll also be getting a whole lotta cool prizes in return… Think about it… Then go do something cool for the arts.
