Ladies and gentlemen, this Friday we have quite a show planned for you. Best of all, it’s free. Yes, free. It’s going down like this:

When: Friday, November 5th, 2010. Doors open at 9pm, Debauche at 10pm, Dirty Bourbon at 11, and New Grass at Midnight

Where: The Blue Nile, 532 Frenchmen Street, in New Orleans
Why: Why would you even ask? Three damn good bands for free an Frenchmen – you’d be a fool to miss this one.
Hope to see you there.
Two weeks after blazing a trail across Louisiana and Texas, Dirty Bourbon headlines tonight (5/21) at Cafe Prytania in a night that is sure to be filled with some hijinks that will knock your socks off an shit. With us will be Fuzzy and the Shopping Carts, fresh off their selection to the Windsor Court’s Top 140 New Orleans characters, a full list of which you can check out at KissMyGumbo. Well done to them boys eh?

Also joining in the revelry will be DeBauche, local Ukrainian folksters and purveyors of wild times, the night is sure to be a wafty night of whimsy clouded by the booze and the bar’s smoky haze.

Tonight we will also be a send off for a month to our bassman, Jimmy Williams, as he travels to France with his sensational brass band Booty Trove so that they can cut a record. Wish them well if you catch them and keep your eyes peeled for that record when it drops, it’s sure to be a gem. Fret not for Jimmy will be safely back holding down that funky bass line by mid June.
So to recap, me, you, and whoever else are gonna be at Cafe Prytania located at 3445 Prytania Street in NOLA at around 10pm tonight, May 21st.
Hey yall!
This Friday, if you happen to be in the greater Jackson, Mississippi area (or have a vehicle capable of great speed) then join us at the Ole Tavern (416 George St.). It’s us and New Grass Country Club, who are hot off a scorching CD release show last Friday. If you missed their set, then believe me, brother, you missed something special. It’s gonna be an old fashioned Friday night throwdown with hollering and swilling but hopefully minus swinging if ya hear me.
Also special sidenote, Bootsy will officially turn 21 at midnight (so will I for that matter), so give him a birthday hug or drink or polite smile. He loves that shit. Anyway, come on out, tell the peoples in the great state of Mississippi! Dirty Bourbon River Show is coming through for the FIRST time ever and they’ve brought something to share!

Man, were those some good times.
And speaking of time, it appears spring break is a mere hours away – I can feel the itchy restlessness brewing on the college campuses – just make sure you’re not headed to Acapulco, ’cause my MGMT teacher says their cutting heads off like crazy over there.
And so, another Friday is upon us. Some good shows to check out:
Noah’s Pick – Booty Trove, New Grass & Revivalists – Tipitina’s – 10pm
Others: Smiley w/ a Knife – Cafe Prytania – 10pm
Blue Party – Republic – 10pm
Sun Hotel – Here Today Gone Tomorrow Thrift Store (Baton Rouge) 8pm
Also, Sun Hotel is headed off for their spring break tour, follow them here: http://www.sunhotelsounds.com/
Well, it’s noon now in New Orleans – in a couple of hours, I’ll have a daiquiri in hand…
Wanna join me?
Last but not least, check out this sweet post our friends Holy Ghost Tent Revival did on SXSW & their journey to New Orleans (whick includes a funny moment when Bill Murray throws their drummer into a trashcan:
