What’s up everybody?! It’s been a while since the last BBR post, so today I’m choosing a special record I found back at Florida at Beach Records!!

IMG_2983.JPG
Levon Helm & the RCO AllStars!

I can’t tell you how excited I was  when I pulled this out of the crate y’all! I’ve been a Levon Helm fan for a long time now (how can you not be) and this record was truly an excellent find. Not only did I get the man behind the drums, but the lineup has more talent than you can shake a (drum) stick at – the Blues Brother’s band, Paul Butterfield, and Dr. John are all on this album! Does it get any better? Yes it does, because the not only do all of the songs sound great, but the album artwork MIGHT be even better!

We’re back in DC tonight at the gorgeous Hamilton to share the stage with the Bumper Jacksons! Doors open at 6:30 and show time is at 7:30! See y’all there! Oh and if anyone knows of a place to crash tonight in the Baltimore/DC area please let us know

So if you’re in our nation’s capitol and looking for a good time tonight, then come on down to The Hamilton! It’ll be the best way to bring in the new year!

As we celebrate the last few hours of 2015 we can’t help but think of all the wonderful people who helped make it so good. We can’t do what we do as much as we do without you.

Mr Pickles Banner

This January we’re going on an Arctic Expedition with Mr. Pickles! Just who is Mr. Pickles and why is he here? Here is a video explaining everything:

It’s going to be a really exciting adventure through many of North America’s infamous NE winter wonderlands, culminating with a big brass bash at the Brooklyn Bowl on January 26th with our dear friends PitckBlak Brass Band!

Then, it’s back home for Mardi Gras in New Orleans! Many exciting shows, including Endymion and Lundi Gras bashes with our dear friends Sweet Crude and Soul Rebels!

Then, it’s off to Europe! So many exciting things! See you at the show!

Up up and away we go! Where we’ll stop, nobody knows!

That’s right folks, today I’m jamming on the elements –

Spirit by Earth, Wind, and Fire!!

If you’re looking for records in the Fort Myers or Bonita Springs area, I highly recommend Beach Records. Marty and Jill are good people who know how to show vinyl lovers a good time.

For this edition of BBR I’m choosing a new addition to the collection…

Ms. Nancy Wilson’s – All In Love Is Fair!

Track #2 & #3: Try It, You’ll Like It/ There’ll Always Be Forever

I picked this album up in Fort Wayne, IN at The Wooden Nickel last week for under a buck, and have listened to it a few times since we’ve been back home. I hadn’t listened to much Nancy Wilson before, and as soon as I saw the cover I knew I had no reason not be buy it. Needles to say it’s definitely becoming a favorite. Hope y’all enjoy!

Tonight we’re playing in New Orleans and rocking the walls at The Maison on Frenchmen St. – Charles Bronson style – from 10 to Midnight! It’s a free show too so come on out and spend your Friday with us!

What up what up, y’all?! We’re back for another installment of BBR and today I’m feeling like some good ole’ ROCK is necessary!! So I’m coming at you with the UK Metal band MORE and their album BLOOD AND THUNDER!!

more-blood-and-thunder2MORE hit the scene in the 1980s part of the new wave of British Heavy Metal going on then. Blood and Thunder is their second and final album released in 1982. I picked this bad boy up in Knoxville, TN a year or so back at a store called Hot Horse, and it’s definitely a great addition to the collection. The cover, featuring lead guitar monster Kenny Cox, is what immediately sold me on it. *Fun Fact* The lineup for this album had also changed during the recording session and vocalist, Mick Stratton, and drummer, A.J. Burton, were brought in. Burton’s drumming on the album is perfect and Stratton, who came in at the last minute, wrote and recorded completely new lyrics and vocal parts.

So without further needless words, check out Blood and Thunder and have yourself a righteous Sunday afternoon!!

Tonight we’re in Bloomington, Indiana at the Player’s Pub. Showtime is 9pm. See y’all there! ~ Boots

Man it’s been a while since my last post, but fear not good folks because I’ve been busy collecting and enjoying some amazing records during the “off season.” While browsing through a local antique shop on Magazine St. this was found ..

IMG956629
Ms Sydney Doyle deserves all the credit, y’all!

Yep, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band‘s first album “My Feet Can’t Fail Me Now,” and it’s on vinyl! I about jumped out of my shoes when I saw this y’all! The Dozen are heroes in New Orleans for keeping the brass band scene alive back in the late 70s. We had the the good fortune to share the stage with them a few years back at the Green River Festival in Massachusetts, and it was definitely a check off the bucket list. We’ve been performing their original tune “Blackbird Special” for a few months now and it’s been a hit at our shows. This album features the original lineup with the traditional split kit setup and a track list of originals and covers that are sure to get you moving. Here’s a video of the title track performed live!

Tonight we’re in Detroit at the always wonderful Cliff Bell’s. Showtime is 9pm. See y’all there! ~Boots
