0 What’s Going On
Man, still resting up after this past weekend’s CD release run. Had so much fun, met some new people, and saw some old friends. Have you checked out the new record yet? It’s available pretty much everywhere for only $9.99:

Tell your friends, tell your mama, we’re real proud of this one. We’ll be touring it all around America this summer, which I’ll tell you about in the minute.
In the meantime, what’s going on for Dirty Bourbon? What are we up to as of late? What’ve we got for that big ol’ horizon up ahead? Well, I’ll tell ya:
For the rest of this month we won’t be playing any shows. We’ll be training our new bari sax player – Matt “Slyfox” Thomas – and finish writing the songs for Volume III (our next album – the Old-Timey Afropop Gibberish Junction – is already written & tracked, just finishing up overdubs & mixing). Then, in May, we’ll kick off on the 5th for a super duper Cinco de Mayo partay with Glasgow & Vox & the Hound, followed by a month long tour on the eastern seaboard to support the release of Volume II – catch us with Blair Cimmins, Megan Jean & Holy Ghost Tent Revival. Then, come summertime, nother big NOLA show, then back to the east coast for another month. Then, this fall, we’ll be heading west to Colorado for another month tour! And then, we’ll come back home & release our 4th album – Old-Timey Afropop Gibberish Junction. Expect Volume III sometime around spring 2012.
So yup, we’ve got a lot of big things planned for the future.
And don’t forget – tell everyone you know about the new album! This beast’s spreading like wildfire, let’s keep that fire hot.
Aight? Aight.

Thank you everybody who came out last night to see us, the Have Nauts and Glasgow at the Spanish Moon. Had a damn good time, saw some old friends and met some new, good peoples.

Catch us rockin’ the Red Stick again next month at the Red Star Bar on 3/31. We’ll be playing with our dear friends Holy Ghost Tent Revival from Greensboro, NC. Phantom Party’ll be helping us spread the word – and if you dug it last night, please help do the same! Until then my friends…

0 Tonight in Baton Rouge: A Spanish Moon Three Ring Circus
Dirty Bourbon River Show, the Have Nauts, and Glasgow hit the Spanish Moon in Baton Rouge on February 25th, 2011.
Tonight we’ll be rocking the Red Stick for a 3rd time with yet another killer 3 ring circus at the Spanish Moon. Dirty Bourbon’ll be starting the night off right at 10pm sharp with a no-hands-barred set chalked full of big announcements, beefed up bari/tenor horn sections, and yet another new song. Following at 11pm will be Phantom Party BR locals the Have Nauts.

A power trio founded on “Motown and dirty rock’n’roll,” the Have Nauts boasts a promising line-up with Jason Ourso on guits, guts and voice, Michael Roy on drums and Cohen Hartmen on bass. There’s a really good article in Stereo Gumbo on these fellas here. For extra listening pleasure check out their bassist’s other project – Cohen Hartmen and the Bone Machine – here.
Finally, closing out the night will be none other than our dear friends Glasgow. This will be our 5th show with the Craft Brothers & Company (they’re also on our upcoming album Vol II) and every time we play with them something magic seems to happen.

You’ve probably (hopefully) heard of Glasgow by now, but if not, I highly recommend you check out their unique brand of classy, downright nasty rock’n’roll here.
If after that you still want more, peep this impromptu megaphone gypsy string stomp Dirty Bourb and Glasgow threw together at the Dragon’s Den last year:
Hope to see you there!

P.S. Special announcement on Sunday – check the interwebs!
P.P.S. I couldn’t resist (Glasgow is Legendary):
0 Blues you ough’ta know with Big Charlie: A Man of the Cloth, Cut from the Blues
Blind Willie Johnson

The Blues has taken on many forms throughout history, in the case of young Willie Johnson the blues came through the word of the good Lord. From age four Willie told his family he would be a preacher. Johnson and his dad built a guitar out of a cigar box and Willie learned how to play using a pocket knife as a slide.
Blind Willie Johnson played and sang his unique versions of favorite hymns and spirituals for the remainder of his life. Until his death in 1945, Willie traveled the south from street corner to backyard spreading his Gospel.
Willie frequented New Orleans, playing and preaching on the corners of the French Quarter. legend has it he was arrested once for “starting a riot” outside the courthouse with a powerful rendition of the song ‘If i Had My Way I’d Tear This Building Down’.
If you’ve already heard of Blind Willie Johnson, that’s probably due to the fact that two of the greatest recording artists of all time covered a song first recorded by Willie.
Dylan and Led Zeppelin both recorded powerful versions of the the song ‘In My Time of Dying’ which is a slightly altered version of Blind Willie’s ‘Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed‘
