Where y’at Tampa/Ybor City? There’s going to be quite the party tonight at the Crowbar (812 N 17th St in Ybor) – it’s their 9th anniversary, and so they’ll be throwing down like so:
Yessirree ladies, that’s 5 (count ’em, f-i-v-e) great bands – doors open at 7, 1st band starts at 8, and we’ll headlining/closing the show at 12:10am.

Happy Halloween everybody! This is by far one of our favorite – if not our favoritiest – of holidays. We’ll be spending Halloween night playing from 8-12 at the Peppermill Resort in Reno – come on by if you’re in the area!

Unsatisfied with the range of reed instruments, this instrument maker has been continually pushing the upper and lower limits of well past what was considered possible. From the smallest saxophone commercially produced, to the lowest and largest clarinets, contrabassoons, and subcontrabass saxophones, this man has never stopped making the absolute best instruments in every conceivable register. Here’s a video of Sly getting to try out one of these subcontrabass beasts.

Thurl Ravenscroft: Basso Profundo, actor, greatest voice in the world.
You may not think you know who this man with the incredible name is, but I guarantee that you grew up listening to his unbelievably deep, resonant voice. Best known for singing “You’re a mean one Mr. Grinch” and being the voice of Tony the Tiger and countless Disney characters, he also sang backup for Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby and some of the biggest stars of his time. Unique and instantly recognizable, Thurl Ravenscroft is a true badass.

Damn y’all, last week was a great start to this September KUMITE! POW! POW! TOUR!! A big THANK YOU to everyone who took care of us in Nashville, Detroit and Milwaukee!! We’re back in Wisconsin and excited to end our weekend run with the 6th annual WSME Backyard BBQ at Cathedral Square Park! Others on the bill include, Jim Liban and the Joel Paterson Trio, Devil Met Contention, Pill Hill and headliner JD McPherson. The Backyard BBQ is free and open to the public so if you’re in or around Milwaukee come on out for a full day of music. The festival opens at 3, Dirty Bourbon hits at 8.

A few months back we stopped off at a small, makeshift recording studio in the newsroom of the Daily Camera, a news outfit in Boulder. Second Story Garage brings in local and national acts to come in to hang and play a few tunes, which they record and share with loads and loads of people online. It was a good time, and we’re happy to finally share with everyone what we laid down there.
