Tonight come join “Three Rings of Funk: A Spectacular Summer Circus” at the Blue Nile on Frenchmen Street. Three amazing local bands will be musically stroking your everythang in this order:
10pm: Alex McMurray Band ~ This stone cold streetstyle songwriter – in the vein of Tom Waits and Danny Barker – comes heavy with an aural arsenal of a band: Carlo Nuccio, Joe Cabral and Bill Malchow
11pm: The Dirty Bourbon River Show ~ You know how we do
Midnight: E Company ~ NOLA Jazz Soul Funk to bring you to the moon. Also a quintet, and just as dynamically heavy as the first 2 acts, E Company packs memorizing melodies with tight, intricate beats and fat syncopated grooves that put a smile on your face and a stranger’s hand firmly on your ass.
Do not miss this shit. These three amazing bands will light you the fuck up. Come get some.
$5 / 18+
Good times in Jackson, MS last night. But so much has happened since then and when we last talked. Hmm, let’s see… where to begin?
The six of us (Me’n’Charlie’n’Bootsy’n’Jimmy’n’Matt & Clay) arrived homeless back in New Orleans at the end of June from our S/SE tour. Bootsy left for Europe for a month, and the remaining five of us found a nice, cheap, big place in the Marigny to lay low for a while. We now live at 1234 Fake St:
We’ve been getting by, hustlin’, bustlin’ & busking (catch us today in Jackson Square and on Frenchmen late afternoonish, getting a slow start) & playing club gigs when we can pick up a drummer (Dave Shirley from E Company has been a godsend ringer). Catch us at Moe’s BBQ in Daphne, AL this Friday, and at the Blue Nile on Frenchmen Street this Saturday with E Company and the Alex McMurray Band. This show is going to kill…
Also, we’ve picked up a manager – the venerable miss Jaime Coggins. From Holy Ghost Tent Revival (of whom she also manages) to P-funk to Jaco Pastorius to Roberta Fleck, her taste is direct and without falter, and her judgment – keen and sharp like Japanese folded steel. She’ll be handling most of our business end from now on, I’ve updated our contact section should you need to contact her regarding gigs, private parties for the Queen of Atlantis, etc. Here’s a little Leonard Cohen / Dr. Dog mash-up to honor our new union:
Looking forward, we’ve got some big things planned for the rest of the summer. Bootsy gets back from Europe at the beginning of next month, and then the 6 of us will be hitting the road hard (check the sidebar for dates ->) – got another South/Southeast tour (TX, LA, MS, AL, TN, FL, SC, NC, VA) this August, then, come September, we’re headed to Colorado…
Big things in the horizon my friends…
It’s a funny thing, how life moves at such an incredible pace.
Your Friend,
~ Noah Adams
P.S. Our 4th album is fully recorded and currently being mastered by Bhob Rainey (who also did Volume Two, a true gentlemen of sound). Me’n’Charlie just finished hand-drawing the cover art ourselves this weekend. Peep it:
It’s going down tonight at the Ole Tavern on George Street:

……………………
Rooster Blues kick off the show at 10pm.
Dirty Bourbon follows at 11pm.
What’s’a’gonna happen? Anything can happen.
416 George Street
Jackson, Missippi
And so, our 30-day tour comes to a close. Catch us one last night at Chelsea’s Cafe in Baton Rouge:
10pm Blair Crimmins & the Hookers (Who killed New Orleans last night on frenchmen)
11pm the Dirty Bourbon River Show (yup, that’s right)
Midnight Gypsy Space Caravan (our boys from BR, the good sxxt).
Doesn’t get much better than that. Come celebrate the end of an amazing run.
3 ring musical circus tonight in New Orleans!
Tonight prepare yourselves for the best damn free show you’ll see on Frenchmen all summer long. Hosted by the Maison de la Music & Openhouse Music, It’s going a little something like this:
10 pm (Front Stage)
Megan Jean & the KFB. Guit, upright, stompbox, banjo & washboard-slangin’ Charleston Gothic Blues duo. This shit will kick your ass.
11 pm (Back Stage)
Back (literally, today) from a month long tour of the S & SE, Dirty Bourbon River Show takes the stage. New, unheard songs, burlesque interlude, fire, whiskey pours & more, it’s going down tonight ladies & gents.
Midnight (Front Stage)
Atlanta, GA’s Blair Crimmins & the Hookers. Variety Hour Dixieland rock – stuff that makes you boogie. Don’t miss this one folks. The Maison (508 Frenchmen), 10pm tonight – and best of all, the show is free.Yur damn right.
