Okay folks, it’s a been a while, hell it’s been months. But worry not because not only do we have BIG things coming, but I’ve been doing some serious record collecting. So let’s get into it!

As you know Mother’s Day just passed, and boy do I have so much to be grateful for because of my Mom. However, today’s record comes not from her y’all, but from my Aunt Pat. She had stored away a box of records in her garage and my little cousin just happened to discover them on Sunday. 10 years they’ve been sitting in there! Well, my Aunt is one of the coolest women I’ve ever known, and without a second thought said, “Have em!” I mean we’re talking Beatles, Elton John, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Al Hirt, and today’s record choice – “Mister Naugahyde”himself, the Emperor of the Universe – Mr Ernie K Doe!!

Now you wanna learn some New Orleans music history, y’all? Read up about this man cause he’s about as good as it gets when it comes to New Orleans characters and entertainers. I’m serious too. LEARN ABOUT HIM. He was a a true New Orleans native with swagger that will never be matched y’all. From his singing to his time as a local DJ on WWOZ, he never failed to wow and stun listeners.

My Aunt Pat gifted me with his music this past weekend, and I’m still giddy that I own this record. So now I’m sharing it with you because damn it’s just so good when you can hold a piece of your hometown’s musical history in your hands and listen to it and share it with others.

Ernie K Doe (1936 – 2001)

“Mother In Law”

“Te-Ta-Te-Ta-Ta’

“Here Comes the Girls”

Love Your Mommas and Keep Listening.
