This is exciting! Check this out:
While sifting through an old box of CD’s given to us by a retired Irish dentist named Ken from Farmington, Arkansas, we came across a very rare gem – a collection of Tom Waits and Bob Dylan duets entitled “Tom and Bob”. The CD is very scratched, and only 4 of the tracks will play. We could not find any remaining tracks on the internet anywhere, so we looked up the record company who had distributed the album. Our research yielded some interesting information…
In the mid and late 90’s there was a small label based out of Southern California who produced and released the album – We have contacted the owner (who wishes to remain anonymous) and they are no longer in business, nor pressing any re-issues. He did give us permission however to publish the playable tracks. He is currently attempting to restore the masters, and when he does hopefully we will be able to get a copy, but in the meantime, you can view what we could rescue from the CD on our Youtube Channel or download them from a Bandcamp called Tom and Bob.
The 1st duet – which opens the album – is a particularly interesting version of Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe”:
The 2nd duet is a slamming rendition of the Starland Vocal Band’s “Afternoon Delight”. Tom and Bob really hit the spot with this one:
The 3rd duet is a slightly unsettling father-daughter duet of Bob Carlisle’s “Butterfly Kisses”:
The 4th and final duet is a truly amazing rendition of the Beastie Boy’s “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)”. From everything we can tell, Arnold Schwarzenegger appears on this track as well:
Hope you enjoy! We sure did!
