Tonight prepare yourselves for the best damn free show you’ll see on Frenchmen all summer long. Hosted by the Maison de la Music & Openhouse Music, It’s going a little something like this:
10 pm (Front Stage)
Megan Jean & the KFB. Guit, upright, stompbox, banjo & washboard-slangin’ Charleston Gothic Blues duo. This shit will kick your ass.
11 pm (Back Stage)
Back (literally, today) from a month long tour of the S & SE, Dirty Bourbon River Show takes the stage. New, unheard songs, burlesque interlude, fire, whiskey pours & more, it’s going down tonight ladies & gents.
Midnight (Front Stage)
Atlanta, GA’s Blair Crimmins & the Hookers. Variety Hour Dixieland rock – stuff that makes you boogie. Don’t miss this one folks. The Maison (508 Frenchmen), 10pm tonight – and best of all, the show is free.
Tonight Black Pearl Productions will host three amazing New Orleans bands to kick off the 2nd weekend of Jazz Fest with a special Cinco de Mayo night show. The line up will include:
10pm: Vox & the Hound – Former City Life frontman Leo DeJesus leads this motley bunch through the aural annals of modern indie rock with an emphasis on rhythm and riff-based storytelling.
11pm: Dirty Bourbon River Show – Check out this awesome video Chris from Treetop Media filmed of our CD Release finale last month:
Then, round midnight, finishing the festivities will be Glasgow – Proudly hailing from diverse and colorful New Orleans, Glasgow is a rock band that marries neat suburban charm with boisterous city noise. Strings, guitars, 4-part vocal harmonies & more. Dig it:
Doors open at 9pm. $5 / 18+ – $2 Cuervo shots & margaritas all night long!
This Friday Jazz Fest begins. And this is what you’re going to do:
You’re going to go see Wyclef at the fairgrounds. You’re going to have an amazing time. Then, when he’s done at 7, you’re going to step outside the fairgrounds, and you’re going to see these guys causing a ruckus:
Yessir ladies and gentlemen, Marchfourth Marching Band. After a brief show outside the fairgrounds they’ll be leading a march to the Studio 3 Warehouse (3610 Toulouse Street, by the American Can Company) where there’ll be food, booze, and Art Official DJ’s to warm you up and get the party started.
Then, come 9:00pm, Marchfourth will take the stage. Stilt walkers, fire, dancing girls, gigantic brass – you do not want to miss their show.
They will amaze you.
And if that wasn’t enough, to top it all off, Dirty Bourbon will be taking the stage at 10:30pm to finish the night off. We haven’t played in New Orleans since our CD release party at the beginning of this month, so we’re real excited for this one. We’ll have multiple horns and some fire (literally) as well. Don’t miss this night. Here’s your itinerary for this Friday, April 9th:
05:30pm Wyclef John at the Fairgrounds
07:00pm MarchFourth performs at Fairgrounds exit
07:30pm March with MarchFourth to the warehouse
08:00pm Doors open, DJ’s, food & booze, you get comfy
09:00pm MarchFourth Marching Band performs

Oh, and did I mention that the show is only Five Dollars!?
Come see day 4/4 of Dirty Bourbon’s Vol II Gulf Coast tour w/ Holy Ghost Tent Revival. Tonight will feature 2011 Grammy winner Chubby Carrier and his Bayou Swamp Band:
Only one week to go until our greatest fxxking show yet. Yessiree ladies and gentlemen, we haven’t been this excited in a while – got a huge one planned for you ~ its going down like this:
Saturday, April 2nd
The Blue Nile on Frenchmen
Show kicks off at 10pm with our dear friends from Greensboro, NC, the one and only Holy Ghost Tent Revival. This 6 piece string/brass extravaganza is the perfect mixture of foot-stompin’ love makin’ folk/roots/blues/dixieland/rock and more. Say hello:
Then, at 11pm, yours truly will be taking the stage, performing for you our newest album – Volume Two. Songs you’ve never heard, old familiars, and everything in between. Good friends, bourbon pours, fireballs and more. So excited to be sharing this newest one with you. We sincerely believe it is our greatest work yet:
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, guess who’ll be closing out the evening? None other than New Orleans’ own the Tin Men. Washboard Chaz, Matt Perrine, Alex McMurray – these cats kill:
If you can’t make the New Orleans Show (which you should, even if you live 300 miles away) you can catch us and Holy Ghost in Baton Rouge on Thursday, Mobile on Friday, and Lafayette an Sunday with Chubby Carrier.
Don’t miss this one. It is going to be our greatest fxxking show yet.
We had the pleasure of having Wilmington, NC’s Onward Soldiers here in New Orleans last night with New Grass & Company at the Wolf’s Den. Today, on their way out to SXSW, they dropped by the studio and I recorded a dark, highly visual tune of Sean Thomas Gerard’s, their guit-slingin’ rhymesayer frontman. Check it out:
If you like that be sure to check them out in Baton Rouge tonight at the Red Star bar, and/or at one of their many SXSW dates.
And if ya like that, don’t you worry, we’ll be bringing them back soon enough…
We just couldn’t wait. We began allowing worldwide digital download of Volume Two tonight at 12:01 AM CST on dbrs.bandcamp.com
We priced the album – temporarily in this unannounced early interim period – at $20. We did this because the last one (Free Love) was completely free, and this new online bundle includes some sweet extra goodies ~ in addition to the full-quality download you get a special digisheet of the artwork, liner notes & lyrics + your choice of either:
(a) a spot on the guest list at our CD release party in New Orleans and a free, reserved, and autographed physical copy of the album waiting for you at the merch table that night
or, for you out-of-town-folks:
(b) an autographed copy mailed to your house free-of-charge on the day of the CD release party + a sticker and a personalized note from the band.
Ya, that’s a whole lot of stuff packed up in this sweet little baby:
This is our best work yet
Then, on April 2nd (Volume Two’s official release date) the album will drop to $9.99 for digital download (without the extra goodies) and will be available on iTunes and Amazon as well.
That night we will be performing our new album at the Blue Nile on Frenchmen Street in New Orleans. Musical guests will include:
Both of these bands are incredible, and we are extremely lucky to have them play with us.
This unprecedented 3 ring circus will start at 10pm and will be $10 at the door for those who did not pre-purchase the album. The Blue Nile only holds 300 people, so I’d grab your goodies and get your spot while they last.
For those in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Mobile, we’ve got shows in your town that weekend with Holy Ghost Tent Revival as well – check our sidebar.
Whether you live in or around New Orleans and plan on attending the live show, or you live somewhere else and plan on just listening to or downloading the album, we hope that you enjoy this new piece of art as much as we did making it.
We are extremely proud to bring these new sounds to your ears, and anxious for your feedback.
Enjoy!
Sincerely,
~ The Dirty Bourbon River Show
P.S. Also, apparently, there are some golden tickets floating around…
