Right at this moment Charles Bradley and his band are sound checking and sounding so good! Tonight we have the honor and pleasure to open up for him and folks we’re beyond excited and ready for it.

So if you’re in our nation’s capitol and looking for a good time tonight, then come on down to The Hamilton! It’ll be the best way to bring in the new year!

As we celebrate the last few hours of 2015 we can’t help but think of all the wonderful people who helped make it so good. We can’t do what we do as much as we do without you.

2 20 New Showdates Added!

2016 is fast approaching folks! As many of you know, this NYE we’re headed up to D.C. to open up for Mr. Charles Bradley! And then, we have a big, big year ahead of us!…

This January we’re going on an Arctic Expedition with Mr. Pickles! Just who is Mr. Pickles and why is he here? Here is a video explaining everything:

It’s going to be a really exciting adventure through many of North America’s infamous NE winter wonderlands, culminating with a big brass bash at the Brooklyn Bowl on January 26th with our dear friends PitckBlak Brass Band!

Then, it’s back home for Mardi Gras in New Orleans! Many exciting shows, including Endymion and Lundi Gras bashes with our dear friends Sweet Crude and Soul Rebels!

Then, it’s off to Europe! So many exciting things! See you at the show!

Up up and away we go! Where we’ll stop, nobody knows!

Carol Jantsch: Supreme Tuba Goddess of the Philadelphia Orchestra

Not only is Carol Jantsch the first woman to win a principal tuba position in a major American Symphony, she is such a badass she did this before she could legally have a drink. Jantsch won the principal tuba position before she even finished her senior year at the University of Michigan. A true musical genius and an unbelievably hard worker, Carol Jantsch is a total badass.

Hey folks! Whew, it’s been a successful Fleurida Tour so far, and it’s not over yet. So to keep the party going I’m pulling out a record I just picked up in Fort Myers at Beach Records!

That’s right folks, today I’m jamming on the elements –

Spirit by Earth, Wind, and Fire!!

If you’re looking for records in the Fort Myers or Bonita Springs area, I highly recommend Beach Records. Marty and Jill are good people who know how to show vinyl lovers a good time.

Tonight we’re in Ft. Lauderdale at Kreepy Tiki Bar & Lounge! Showtime is 9pm. We’ll be hanging out earlier so come out and share a drink with us!

Just realized that this was posted incorrectly back in October.. so it’s a double dose of vinyl today ….

It’s a special one today folks, as we head to LEAF Fest to join up with some of the who’s who of New Orleans music, it seems only too fitting that I was just recently gifted this…

While I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet, I’m sure it’s going to be a highlight of my collection. This album was a 1978 Swing House LP release featuring live recordings made at the Hollywood Empire in Los Angeles during March 1949 with Louis and the All Stars. I already have two albums of his (Hello Dolly! & His Golden Hits), but this is the first live one, and that’s really what makes it so special. As far as drummers go, Big Sid Catlett is certainly one to aspire to – he’s got the technique, the sound, and the showmanship! (If you’ve never seen him, go check him out BOOM-DA-BOOM!)

Jack Teagarden – trombone/ vocal

1 NEW YEARS EVE w/ CHARLES BRADLEY!!!

It has just been confirmed y’all, we will be opening up for the “Screamin’ Eagle of Soul,” Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires on New Years Eve!!

The concert will take place in Washington D.C. at The Hamilton!! It’ll be our debut at this fine venue, and we can barely contain our excitement!

Mr. Bradley’s music has been close to us since the beginning of our band. We listened to him constantly while we were at Loyola when his first album, “No Time for Dreaming,” came out. We were fortunate enough to see him live in Chicago at Millennium Park, and that was an unforgettable concert. He had jumped off stage and hugged each one of us! (We had shown up early to get front row seats)

And now folks, we have the proudest of pleasures to open up for a man who epitomizes what it means to be a true champion of love and perseverance. If you’ve never heard of him or his music please take some time and do so!

0 Anniversary Party At The Crowbar Tonight!

Where y’at Tampa/Ybor City? There’s going to be quite the party tonight at the Crowbar (812 N 17th St in Ybor) – it’s their 9th anniversary, and so they’ll be throwing down like so:

Yessirree ladies, that’s 5 (count ’em, f-i-v-e) great bands – doors open at 7, 1st band starts at 8, and we’ll headlining/closing the show at 12:10am.

Hey errybody! Words can’t even describe how amazing the winter weather is down here in Florida… so I won’t even bother trying. Instead, here’s some snapshots of our time spent thus far in what is certainly one of the most unique states in the union:

0 Key West…It’s like a Mini Vacation!!!

We are so lucky to have the honor of playing such a relaxed town! There is so much to see, and so much that reminds us of back home…from the roosters in the middle of the road, to the palm trees, to the friendly folks you meet on the street. Definitely a party town, with lots of history. And 80 degrees here feels more like 90!!!! We play The Green Parrot tonight in Key West at 9pm, and again on Thursday at 5:30pm and 9pm. Free show both nights! If you are lucky enough to be in town, stop by for a great night of music! Enjoy the pics below, and get a taste for all the fun you are missing! Love ya folks!
