1 Bootsy ‘ s Box of Records pt 6

Since we’ve been home for most of February, I’ve had time to frequent my nearest Salvation Army for records and VHS tapes. It’s pretty sweet because records and tapes are a quarter there.

Going through their stash this month I found a Dave Brubeck record, a Bill Evans Anthology, Genesis live double-disc, and the Blues Brothers soundtrack on vinyl for under $2. They were all in good condition too. (I also bought Kazaam, Wizard of Oz, Tim Burton’s Batman & Nightmare before Christmas, and some other movies for about the same price.)

So for post 6 of BBR, I’ll feature The Dave Brubeck Quartet record – Time In Outer Space.

Joe Morello was an amazing jazz drummer and dominates the whole B side of this record. Hope you enjoy!

Tonight we’re in Grand Rapids, MI at The Tip Top Deluxe with the Kent County String Band. Showtime is 9pm. See y’all there.

Last night was wild at the Maison with Mississippi Rail Co.! If you’re in town right now, you know today is gonna get even more wild, and the day after and the day after! For today Endymion rides, and Mardi Gras is in full effect.

If you’re in town then you’re on the route, somewhere along Canal St drinking and dancing and yelling. Well if you’re looking for some entertainment, alls you gotta do is walk on down S Telemachus St. to a neighborhood bar called 12 Mile Limit. There you can enjoy some delicious food, brews, and music for an all day and night Endymion block party. Dirty Bourbon will be joining up with Sweet Crude again to give y’all a damn good time.

Sweet Crude will perform before the parade and Dirty Bourbon will drop the beat after. Don’t miss out folks!!

Gonnabe a crazy one tonight y’all. Got Mississippi Rail Company playing at 10:30 and then Dirty Bourbon River Show to follow at midnight. Come on out to the Maison on Frencmen. It’s gonna be a party. Oh, and it’s free. Boom.

5 Goodbye Charlie

To all our friends and family, fans and supporters, it is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our friend, bandmate, and partner-in-crime – Charles “Big Charlie” Skinner – will be hanging up his ringmaster’s jacket and bowler hat and departing from the Dirty Bourbon River Show.

I’m sure this is quite a shock to many of y’all, but this is Charlie’s decision, and – being friends first – we support him in his desire to pursue other paths and passions. As many of you know, Charlie is an exceptional singer and performer, and we have the highest hopes for him and wish him the best in this next chapter of his life.

Charlie’s final performance with the band will be on April 4th in New Orleans for our “Important Things Humans Should Know” album release party, where we hope you’ll help us give him a proper send off. Moving forward, it is our our goal to fill the section of the stage that was Charlie’s with another trombonist. It won’t be the same, folks, but change in life is inevitable, and the show must go on. Ad Astera per Aspera!
