Tonight – at One Eyed Jack’s in the French Quarter – we partake in the most poppinest ever. Grand, spectacular, wild, and erotic – The circus is fully fired up now, and this time it’s a 4 ring: Dirty Bourbon River Show, New Grass Country Club, Booty Trove & A-Free-Ka.
It’s going down like this:
9pm Doors open
10pm 12 piece beat hooligans A-Free-Ka starts the show
11pm New Grass Country Club begins. Fresh from the release of their new debut LP ‘Join the Club’ they’ll be bringing the old and a whole lotta new too.
Midnight Dirty Bourbon River Show takes the stage. Heading off on their summer tour with New Grass the day after, DBRS is excited to present a jam-packed show with a bunch of new songs, antics, players, burlesque dancers, and more.
1 am on… 9 piece brass band Booty Trove will close out the night with a free after party, playing as long as the people keep dancing and buying drinks. After that, they ship off for France.
And so, as you can probably see, this show is utterly ridiculous. Over the course of the night you’ll see 4 bands and at least 40 different instruments onstage. You’ll hear things you’ve never imagined. You might even shit your pants its so good.
Yes, it’s that good.

0 Jazz Fest Begins!
It begins this Friday Night – city starts filling up, some of the best shows in the world… Tonight, on the grounds – P-funk, Dr. John, the regulars – plus a few new young additions – Revivalists will be making their Jazz Fest Debut at 11:20 am on the Gentilly Stage, followed by Glasgow’s Alexis Marceaux and her band on the Lagnipipe stage at 12:35pm – then it just gets wild after that…
George Clinton, up to his Legendary Crack-Smokin' Antics Yet Again
Then, tonight, I’ll be heading over to the Howlin’ Wolf, where I’ll be working the floor & door for the Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings/Dumpstafunk show (last fest Dave Matthews couldn’t stop ranting about Dumpstafunk, if you haven’t yet, check ‘em here). And if that’s not enough, Caddywhompus will be releasing their new LP at the Mother-in-Law Lounge. Then tomorrow, the legendary Rakim will be playing with Rebirth at Howlin’ Wolf. The good music never stops in this city. Bring it.
2 Two Weeks Until Summer Tour
Two weeks until Dirty Bourb & New Grass kick off their summer tour at One Eyed Jack’s. So much to do, so little time! Not to mention school & jazz fest – like a RZA beat, out of control!
