Forty-eight hours to go until the Kickstarter closes:
Yessiree indeed – thank you so much everyone who helped. Last minute chip ins more than welcome. Spread the word. We’re coming to your city soon because of you.
It begins this Friday Night – city starts filling up, some of the best shows in the world… Tonight, on the grounds – P-funk, Dr. John, the regulars – plus a few new young additions – Revivalists will be making their Jazz Fest Debut at 11:20 am on the Gentilly Stage, followed by Glasgow’s Alexis Marceaux and her band on the Lagnipipe stage at 12:35pm – then it just gets wild after that…
Then, tonight, I’ll be heading over to the Howlin’ Wolf, where I’ll be working the floor & door for the Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings/Dumpstafunk show (last fest Dave Matthews couldn’t stop ranting about Dumpstafunk, if you haven’t yet, check ‘em here). And if that’s not enough, Caddywhompus will be releasing their new LP at the Mother-in-Law Lounge. Then tomorrow, the legendary Rakim will be playing with Rebirth at Howlin’ Wolf. The good music never stops in this city. Bring it.
Two weeks until Dirty Bourb & New Grass kick off their summer tour at One Eyed Jack’s. So much to do, so little time! Not to mention school & jazz fest – like a RZA beat, out of control!
Friday, May 7th it begins, here, in New Orleans. Just finished the summer showbills. Peep them here:
Not bad, ya? Can’t wait to kick off in the quarter – tix are $10 at the door, $5 in advance – get ‘em here and avoid them punk ass lines and hassles: the hot shit. More to come shortly…
DBRS drummer Dane “Bootsy” Schindler & Co-Manager Clay Miller turned 21 this weekend.
It was amazing. Still a little drunk, and it’s Wednesday.
This Friday, if you happen to be in the greater Jackson, Mississippi area (or have a vehicle capable of great speed) then join us at the Ole Tavern (416 George St.). It’s us and New Grass Country Club, who are hot off a scorching CD release show last Friday. If you missed their set, then believe me, brother, you missed something special. It’s gonna be an old fashioned Friday night throwdown with hollering and swilling but hopefully minus swinging if ya hear me.
Also special sidenote, Bootsy will officially turn 21 at midnight (so will I for that matter), so give him a birthday hug or drink or polite smile. He loves that shit. Anyway, come on out, tell the peoples in the great state of Mississippi! Dirty Bourbon River Show is coming through for the FIRST time ever and they’ve brought something to share!
New Grass Country Club, friends of ours, are releasing their debut album April 9th @ Cafe Prytania (Wine & Spirits)! It is entitled Join The Club. Come see these five young ruffians display their scruffy vagabond style jams cus basically thats whats up! They have toiled hard on this for a good long while and now they wanna party wit yall. I’ll testify that this record is nothing short of 11 straight bangin soon-to-be-anthems for this and the next generation. We’ll be at the party and so will Sun Hotel, so ya know it sure to be that kind of crazy party. For those penny pinchers, Cover is only $5. For those more generous, the album is gonna cost $5 too! $10 to see 3 bands and get a cd?!? That’s cheaper than a movie, son!
Oh, and here’s a free movie with Jacky D of New Grass fame talkin on the album and playin yall a little ditty.
Just some thoughts as this spectacular & magnificent Friday approaches – excited as all hell for New Grass Country Club’s new album “Join the Club” – I recorded it myself late last October, and let me tell you, it sounds damn good – and now soon, you all can hear it too… I know, if you like any kind of folk, blues, bluegrass, or roots music, if you give this record a good listen, you will fall in love with it like I have. I really like the boys in New Grass, they’re a great band, and I hope you all come out and share the experience this Friday. More show preview goodies to come as the date nears. Stay alert. Word.
Check the fbook event here: yippee!!!
Tonight (and by tonight I mean April 2nd) it’s us and Glasgow, and Wild Moccasins (they’re from Houston, and they’re fun if you’re unfamiliar) at the Dragon’s Den (435 Esplanade ave, NOLA). Doors are at 10! I know it’s the end of the week an yall are itching to go out and do something crazy. Why not do something crazy with us? Hope to see you there!.
